Responsible for accurate scheduling, pre-registration, insurance
entry and verification of scheduled diagnostic procedures.
Schedules diagnostic exams for patients at multiple locations while
coordinating communication between the patient, Radiologist,
EvergreenHealth diagnostic departments, clinics, Radia Imaging, EH
Monroe Hospital, Financial Services and Patient Access. Work is set
in a Call Center environment. Service provided by this position is
vital to the organization as it is often the first contact with
patients and providers.
Schedules diagnostic exams for nine (9) different modalities, at
three (3) different locations,working in multiple computer
Demonstrates knowledge of different modalities and the
Schedules in accordance with exam requirements, staffing of the
units, equipment and insurance necessities.
Schedules procedures via phone, answering inbound calls or
initiating outbound calls.
Submits request for interpreter services, to correspond with
Reviews orders that are received from multiple sources, CPOE
(computerized physician order entry), faxed/written, online
request, and verbal phone request from clinics, in order to verify
the exam requested matches the orders and includes all required
Answers department telephones promptly to organization
standards, creating a positive telephone encounter.
Obtains demographic and billing information from the patient or
Identifies and communicates change in exam protocol, insurance
requirements, and guidelines to leaders.
Provide information of general and specific nature to patients
and visitors, including exam protocol, directions, facilities,
services, exam cost and parking.
Completes pre-registration of patients at the point of
scheduling, over the phone.
Demonstrates knowledge of insurance payers and the use of
electronic systems for verification purpose.
Demonstrates knowledge of the multiple electronic applications
required to perform duties.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED for the position:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Experience or educational courses in data entry, computer
literacy, general office procedures
- Excellent communication skills with a high degree of tact to
deal effectively with patients, physicians and EvergreenHealth
- Ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultures
and diverse socioeconomic situations
- Ability to type 35 WPM with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time, speaking with
patient/provider, computer entry, and phone systems
DESIRED for the position:
- College or vocational training in medical terminology
- Two years of experience in hospital, medical office or
healthcare insurance setting
- Understanding of Radiology and Medical terminology
- This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement
between EvergreenHealth and the Service Employees International
Union (SEIU) Healthcare 1199NW. Union membership is optional.NW.
