Job Description:
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery,
and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words,
we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS
data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power,
and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual
access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most
challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the
supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to
help. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network
engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations
managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people
across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and
security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest
possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive
culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to
completion. Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides a highly reliable,
scalable, and low-cost cloud platform that powers thousands of
businesses in over 190 countries. AWS’ Infrastructure Supply Chain
organization works to deliver cutting-edge solutions to source,
build and maintain our socially responsible data center supply
chains. We are a team of highly-motivated, engaged, and responsive
professionals who enable the core sustainable infrastructure of
AWS. Come join our team and be a part of history as we deliver
results for the largest cloud services company on Earth! Power &
Cooling (PAC) team is seeking a results-oriented individual with
strong business judgement skills and experience working with
internal and external stakeholders to own material planning for
Data Center Power & Cooling Equipment. Our Material Planning
Managers are high-energy self-starters that are excited to work
across different functions to deliver power and cooling equipment
to our data centers globally. As a member of the Power and Cooling
Supply Chain Management Team, this role's primary responsibility is
to maintain unconstrained supply for the responsible regions and
work with our internal customers and business partners to audit and
track inventory status and materials from Design to Delivery. You
will be the single threaded leader and first line of escalation for
any post-delivery construction and commissioning issues. Key job
responsibilities - The Materials Planning Manager is a single
threaded leader who serves as the orchestrator of long-lead
equipment (LLE) planning and delivery execution for AWS data
centers. This role drives forecast accuracy, milestone tracking,
and risk management to ensure timely data center delivery. - Demand
Planning and Forecasting- You will spearhead the development and
maintenance of a rolling three-year forecast for LLE, collaborating
with business partners to capture evolving requirements. This
includes managing schedule changes, tracking design modifications,
and validating net new demand to maintain forecast accuracy. Your
role requires coordinating with design teams to ensure equipment
specifications align with construction timelines and maintaining a
change management process that achieves first-time-right
implementations. - Milestone Management and Progress Tracking- As
the single-threaded owner of milestone tracking, you will monitor
the critical path from forecast creation through design, funding,
delivery, and commissioning. This comprehensive tracking system
enables proactive identification of potential delays, with a goal
of maintaining 100% milestone achievement rate. You will exercise
high judgment in determining when to escalate risks and which
mitigation strategies to pursue, ensuring that potential delays are
identified and addressed before impacting construction schedules. -
Risk Management and Prioritization- Your role focuses on tracking
supplier delivery commitments against construction need-by dates,
serving as an early warning system for potential schedule impacts.
While Global Supply Chain Managers handle supplier negotiations,
you will partner with them to highlight risks and support
mitigation strategies. As the key liaison to the business, you will
drive build prioritization decisions, maintaining a dynamic risk
register that drives predicting and preventing delivery delays. -
Post-Delivery Support and Issue Resolution You will serve as the
primary escalation point for post-delivery challenges at
construction sites, including quality concerns and resource
constraints. This responsibility requires building trusted
relationships with suppliers and supply managers. When needed, you
will lead war room sessions to resolve critical issues, targeting
prompt resolution of issues. - Success in this role directly
impacts AWS's ability to deliver data centers on schedule, with
performance measured by achievement of construction timelines and
successful equipment installation. The position requires
maintaining forecast accuracy, milestone tracking, and risk
mitigation rather than supplier negotiations and capacity
management. A day in the life As a manager in the team, the
successful candidate will embody the following: - Communicate ideas
concisely to a wide variety of stakeholders for purposes ranging
from informative to need for approvals from executives. - Embody a
true pioneering spirit, willing to “get your hands dirty” in a
start-up environment while simultaneously developing processes,
automation, and delivering results - Clearly define data
requirements and metrics, working with teams to implement the
entire data flow from capture to presentation and management - High
attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple,
competing priorities simultaneously - Keen on developing and
training people to improve skills and capabilities for sustainable
and continuous improvement. About the team *Why AWS* Amazon Web
