Job Description:

The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for the development and administration of the employee relations program and associate advocacy. This position oversees and administer the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and state and local leave laws. They will also will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.. PERFORMANCE - Setting New Standards. .. Acts as point person for employee and management inquiries about leaves of absence, and workplace accommodations, conferring with the Director of Human Resources as needed.. Oversees and makes recommendations for compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.. Maintains knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, state and local laws, provincial regulations, trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.. Handles the FMLA and provincial leaves administration process from the employee's initial notice of the need for leave to the return to work. This includes gathering and completing all required paperwork, determining leave eligibility, designating leave as FMLA-qualifying, requesting medical certification as needed, and accounting for intermittent and reduced schedule leave use.. Maintains reasonable communication with associates on leave to facilitate smooth and timely return to work; relays communication between associates and their managers during leave within reason.. Communicates with associates regarding their needs for leave and/or modified work schedules before, during and after their leave. This includes gathering and completing all required paperwork, determining leave eligibility, designating leave as FMLA-qualifying, requesting medical certification as needed, and accounting for intermittent and reduced schedule leave use.. Oversees the return-to-work process for associates returning from FMLA or other leave(s).. Works with individuals to determine reasonable accommodations needed for professional success; connects individuals to and/or provides direct resources and services.. Assists individuals with solving obstacles unique and/or common to individuals with disabilities; interfaces with Regional Teams to ensure individuals gain equitable access to resources.. Preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files.. Attention to Detail sets us apart . .. Advises managers and associates on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off; relays communication between associates and their managers during leave within reason.. Facilitates other leave requests, which may include accommodation requests under the ADA.. Records interactions with individuals with disabilities and analyzes effectiveness of accommodations; compiles reports and analyzes data related to accommodations, compliance, and program efficacy.. Administers other company time-off programs as assigned in accordance with internal policy and applicable laws.. Responsible for auditing all timecards each pay period for compliance to time off benefits policy before transmittal.. Drafts and/or recommends revisions to company leave policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.. Maintains complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation of best practices.. Extensive knowledge of the leave requirements and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA, ADA, and other applicable laws.. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.. Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.. Bachelor's degree, preferably in human resource management or related field or equivalent combination of education, training and experience required.. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Human Resources preferably in the administration of federal and state family and medical leave programs, and accommodations of disabilities and pregnancy.. Knowledge of federal and state FMLA, ADAAA, and pregnancy leave requirements.. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.. Completion of specialized certification or training on FMLA/leave administration a plus.. Must agree to a criminal background check and sign an agreement for voluntary drug testing..
