Job Description:
Job Description JOB SUMMARY The Registered Nurse (RN) is a core
member of the outpatient clinic team, working in collaboration with
providers, medical assistants, and other staff to deliver
comprehensive care. The RN is responsible for the full nursing
process, from patient assessment and planning to implementing and
evaluating care. This role ensures safe, efficient, and
patient-centered care by managing clinic workflows, coordinating
services, and providing expert nursing support and education. The
position requires strong clinical judgment, critical thinking
skills, and effective communication. This position requires the
ability to work independently, manage a dynamic workload, and adapt
to the specific needs of the clinic while upholding the highest
standards of professional nursing practice. PRINCIPLE FUNCTIONS
include the following; other duties may be assigned: Patient Care
and Clinical Support: - Assessment & Care Planning: Conduct
comprehensive nursing assessments, gather patient history, and
interpret pertinent clinical data. Develop and implement
individualized plans of care based on patient needs, provider
orders, and department-specific protocols. - Care Coordination:
Manage patient care across the continuum, including referrals,
follow-up, and communication with other healthcare teams and
tertiary centers. - Clinical Procedures: Perform, monitor, and
supervise clinical procedures and treatments as required by the
department's performance checklist. - Medication Administration:
Administer medications, monitor patient reactions, and educate
patients on potential side effects. Adhere to all policies and
procedures for medication safety and administration. - Patient
Education: Advise and educate patients and their families on health
conditions, treatment plans, post-visit instructions, and self-care
management. - Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely, and
thorough documentation of all patient care, education, and
communications in the electronic health record (EHR). Departmental
& Professional Responsibilities - Workflow & Triage: Support and
optimize clinic workflows, manage incoming patient calls and
messages, and perform telephone triage in accordance with
established protocols. - Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively
with the entire care team, providing support and oversight to
medical assistants and other staff. - Quality & Compliance:
Participate in departmental and organizational quality initiatives.
Adhere to the standards of the Washington Nurse Practice Act,
hospital policies, and all regulatory requirements. - Professional
Development: Stay current with professional standards and clinical
best practices. Maintain required certifications (e.g., BLS, ACLS)
and participate in mandatory training and continuing education.
Skills & Competencies The RN must be able to perform the skills and
demonstrate the competencies as outlined and identified in the
department's performance or competency checklist. These include,
but are not limited to: - Applying the full nursing process
(assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) - Effective and
accurate patient communication and education - Clinical judgment
and critical thinking - Managing a variety of patient populations
and conditions - Technical skills relevant to the specific clinic
(e.g., specific lab draws, equipment operation, wound care, etc.) -
Teamwork and collaboration - Maintaining a safe and clean clinical
environment JOB KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS Education - Required:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. - Preferred: BSN
Training and Experience - At least one (1) year of experience as a
Registered Nurse in a relevant specialty or department is
preferred. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations - Active WA State
RN License or Active Multistate License (MSL) - MSL Requirements: -
Approved 6-Hour Suicide Prevention Training Course Completion -
