Job Description:
director - development The Director of Development will have
leadership responsibility for developing and implementing Friends
of Youth' comprehensive strategy to philanthropy. In this role, the
Director of Development will work with the President & CEO, the
Board of Directors and agency Program Directors to develop
fundraising strategies including annual campaigns, major gifts,
planned-giving, and endowment efforts, that support key programs.
The Director of Development will be expected to work closely with
the President and CEO, and the Marketing and Communication team, to
develop ties with community organizations, corporations, and
individual supporters, to uplift donor stewardship, acquisition,
retention, and appreciation. Essential duties Annual Campaign:
Develop and execute fundraising strategies that meet annual revenue
goals across campaigns, inclusive of individual giving, corporate
gifts, foundations, and special events. Ensure effective use of CRM
systems to achieve the overall objectives of the agency' annual
campaign goal. Board Interaction and Support: Attend Board of
Directors meetings and prepare monthly development reports for
Board members as required. Work in partnership with the President
and CEO to guide the Board's Development Committee on their chart
of work. Work in partnership with the President and CEO to train,
motivate, and involve Board members in the development process,
specifically, Donor Engagement process. Work closely with the Chair
of the Resource Development Committee on monthly meeting agendas,
action items, etc. Community and Civic Giving: In partnership with
the President and CEO, assist in the cultivation of civic and
community giving to the agency. In collaboration with the Marketing
and Communication division, develop presentation materials for
agency representatives, and key stakeholders to use in
representation of the agency. Foundation/Corporate Relations:
Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with key private
foundations and corporations with vested interests in serving
youth. Provide ongoing stewardship and program progress to funders
while developing updated information for prospective funders on
programs of interest. Successfully achieve the annual financial
goal for corporate and foundation giving. Grants (Private Funders):
Working in partnership with the Grants team, supervise all private
grant communication activities to ensure quality of presentation
and continuity of information and eliminate any potential
duplication of efforts. Working in partnership with the Grants
team, lead the identification and qualification process for new
sources of private grants. Achieve the annual financial goal for
private grants. Major Gifts: Work closely with Foundation Board,
and Foundation Board Chair to develop and implement fundraising
strategies consistent with the agency' goals. Working in
partnership with the President and CEO, be responsible for raising
donations at the major gift level for capital and operating needs
to optimize fundraising success and help fulfill Friends of Youth
mission and strategic objectives. Work collaboratively with
internal/external stakeholders and volunteers to identify
prospects. Develop and implement short term and long-term
cultivation and solicitation strategies. Involve and train Board
members and other agency volunteers in the acquisition of major
gift support. Implement acknowledgement and recognition systems for
special donors. Develop and oversee special procedures to monitor
and evaluate major gift progress. Successfully achieve the annual
goal for major gifts. Develop and maintain key major gift donor
relationships. Planned Giving: Introduce, cultivate, and steward
relationships with established donors to planned-giving. Coordinate
planned giving efforts including bequests, trusts, and the
development of gifts or securities, property, and other appreciated
assets. Work collaboratively with the Marketing and Communications
team to develop appropriate recognition, engagement, and
communication tools. Professional Conduct: Maintain a high standard
of ethics, integrity, and professional practice in development
activities. Keep abreast of development issues by attending
conferences, seminars, professional organization meetings,
networking and staying current on trends in philanthropy. Special
Campaigns (Capital and Program): Working in partnership with the
President and CEO, develop the strategies, timeline, and structure
for the implementation of special program and capital campaigns.
Direct the feasibility study, compose the case for support,
organize special committees, organize prospect identification, and
develop gift strategy phases, and assist in the solicitation
process. Working with the President and CEO and the Resource
Development Committee, successfully raise the capital necessary to
meet the annual financial goals of the organization. Special
Events: Work with Board members and the President and CEO to
develop key signature events. Develop special cultivation events as
they relate to achieving agency goals. Drive increasing attendance
and average gift size. Achieve the annual financial goal for
special events. Supervision: Supervise the Manager of Development
and Assistant of Development. Other Duties Please note this job

require:Bachelor's Degree in a human-service or business-related
field. In place of a degree, minimum of 10 years of relevant
experience can be substituted. Minimum of 5 years of experience
successfully managing major gifts, donor relationships/stewardship,
corporate partnerships and sponsorships, and fund development.
Demonstrated experience in and understanding of diversity, equity,
inclusion, and systemic antiracism, as it relates to Development
and the strategic vision of an organization. Experience utilizing
donor databases and online fundraising tools. Working knowledge of
Raiser's Edge preferred.Ability to pass a criminal background check
& TB test WA Driver's license with a safe driving record Proof of
