Kenworth is pushing the technology envelope with the introduction of battery electric vehicles, exploration of fuel cell electric vehicles, and autonomous driving systems.Requisition SummaryThe Kenworth Engine Integration department is seeking engineers that will be responsible for implementing new engine installation designs and responding to requests from manufacturing, service, and other key customers. Ideal candidates will have a demonstrated technical background in automotive and/or commercial vehicle development projects.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design and development of medium and heavy-duty commercial vehicle engine installations for PACCAR's entire North American internal combustion engine product portfolio.
  • Support or lead projects from inception through completion.
  • Work within a phase-gate product creation process to manage projects, measure progress, and govern use of Six Sigma tools and deliverables.
  • Utilize Parametric Technologies Creo to create 3D models and release drawings of optimized parts, routings, and assemblies of complex designs.
  • Initiate change notices to bring your designs into production reality.
  • Be accountable for all aspects of designs including budget, costs, schedule, and quality.
  • Work with the PACCAR Technical Center to validate the designs.
  • Utilize quality tools (e.g. Design for Six Sigma) and follow design best practices.
  • Understand, measure, and perform to engineering operational metrics.
  • Understand and support regulation changes, production support, field service, and customer option approval requests .
    Qualifications
    • BSME or equivalent engineering degree required; relevant Masters degree and PE license preferred.
    • 0-1years of design experience; automotive or commercial vehicle experience preferred.
    • Overall product knowledge required; engine and related systems experience is preferred.
    • Experience with 3D CAD part modeling, assembly modeling, and drawing release required.
    • Willing to make use of engineering processes and techniques and be resourceful in solving complex technical problems.
    • Familiarity with project management methods and tools, PMP certification or other project management training desired.
    • PACCAR/manufacturing plant experience desired.
    • Competence in the use of personal computer software such as word processing, database, and spreadsheets.
    • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment, and manage multiple priorities.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to effectively communicate up, down, and across organizations.

        • Ability to travel, domestically and internationally, up to 10%. Typical trips include support project truck builds at PACCAR manufacturing plants, collaborate with other PACCAR locations, visit supplier partners, and customer visits.Why work for PACCAR/Kenworth?

We carefully consider numerous compensation factors including your education, training, or experience. The salary range for Engine Installation Engineer is $63,000-$94,500 annually. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift.
