solutions.Echodyne is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer with
experience in RF electronics to join our team working in a
fast-paced environment developing high-performance commercial radar
solutions.Echodyne offers the world's first compact solid-state
true beam-steering radar for a wide range of industries and
applications. Our high-performance radars work in all weather and
are designed for autonomous vehicles, unmanned aircraft & drones,
and security of borders, critical infrastructure, and smart cities.
The company combines the patented technology of metamaterials with
powerful software to create a radar sensor with unprecedented
performance at commercial price points. Echodyne offers its radars
to companies working in Automotive, Transportation, Critical
Infrastructure Protection, Border Security, Smart Cities, Unmanned
Aircraft Systems (UAS), and Airspace Management including Urban Air
Mobility (UTM).High-performance RF signal amplification and
processing circuits and subsystems are critical to realizing a
high-performance radar sensor. As a Principal Electrical Engineer,
you will play a key role in every phase of the product lifecycle
(Definition, Exploration, Architecting, Design, Development,
Verification, Production, and Sustainment). In each phase you will
both contribute to and learn from challenging problems in circuit
design and architectures related to state-of-the-art radar. In this
role, you will draw upon your deep background in RF and Microwave
system and circuit design to aid in the quick progression through
the smallest assessments to the largest architecture trades for
ground-breaking products.Responsibilities:
- Responsible for RF subsystems throughout each stage of their
lifecycle including conception, design, verification, and
transition to manufacturing
- Develop and execute complex trade studies to refine
architectures required to support new and emerging radar
designs
- Lead design-shaping discussions with multi-functional teams to
generate sound radar architectures, solve difficult problems or
support sustaining engineering
- Provide technical expertise in RF subsystem and circuit design
in support of product subsystem detailed design and verification
activities
- Support manufacturing teams through the definition and
architecting of suitable test architectures to ensure quality
throughout the production lifecycle
- Continue to grow subject matter expertise through individual
growth and mentoring, utilizing both internal and external
resources
- Work with your leadership team to understand upcoming projects
and programs and identify opportunities for growth in your
knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Become an integral part of the team through collaboration and
mentoringRequired skills / experience:
- Background in the engineering of RF Printed Circuit Assemblies
and RF subsystems
- Experience with RF transmitter and receiver module design and
analysis including the bring-up, integration, design verification
and qualification of RF printed circuit assemblies
- Experience designing High-Reliability commercial or consumer RF
hardware and managing high thermal density architectures
- Experience developing RF hardware architectures for fielded
products
- Experience with the development of detailed RF transceiver
designs including part selection trades, schematic development, and
simulation
- Expert in RF Chain/Cascade Development & Analysis for
heterodyne receivers and multi-stage transmitter subsystemsDesired
Experience:
- RF Architecture Design and Analysis
- Expert understanding of figures of merit such as noise figure,
gain, power, compression points, intercept points, temperature &
frequency effects, and harmonic estimation
- Understanding of the significance of low phase noise
synthesizer design, clock synthesis & distribution
- Knowledge of best-practices for high-speed RF switching
architectures
- RF Subsystem Detailed Design
- Experience creating designs using components such as power
amplifiers, driver amplifiers, digitally controlled phase-shifters
& attenuators, power control circuitry and fault monitoring &
isolation circuitry
- Strong background Mechanical packaging concepts for densely
packed RF circuitry
- Experience with design and analysis of RF circuits in a
full-wave simulation suite such as HFSS/CST or equivalent
- Experience with power supply architecture & design
- Understanding of low-speed signaling protocols (SPI,
I2C)Qualifications:
- BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, MS preferred
- 10 or more years of experience in RF Circuit DesignEchodyne's
technology is export controlled by the U.S. Government and we must
evaluate an applicant's eligibility to handle export-controlled
information or obtain required Government authorizations.
