duty diesel-electric hybrids.Position SummaryThe Mechanical Design
Engineer role will primarily focus on the development and
production of the SuperTruck II advanced efficiency program
demonstrator vehicle. Provide direction for vehicle cab, sleeper,
and outerbody with consideration for future user needs and
industry-related trends, with input from product planning, styling,
and senior management. This role will also require participation in
the hands-on assembly and validation of the demonstrator vehicle.
Focus efforts on lightweight designs that leverage systems
integration, with considerations for content and multiple functions
(noise, thermal). Provide input to future product roadmaps based on
technology and information gathered from Super Truck development
efforts.Other work could include developing aerodynamic product
enhancements, new truck outerbody designs, and warranty or cost
reduction projects that add to the overall profitability of the
organizations.The ideal candidate should have the willingness to

Functions / Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Design, fabrication, and validation of the SuperTruck II
demonstrator vehicle
- Aerodynamic product enhancements, warranty, and cost reduction
projects that add to the overall profitability of the
organization
- Participate in and/or lead the design and development of
structures-based projects in the Outerbody team
- Utilize Creo Parametric to create optimized part and assembly
models of moderate to complex designs requiring independent
judgment
- Work closely with the Industrial Design and Styling groups in
the development of new or updated vehicle exteriors
- Create rapid prototyped parts to quickly validate multiple
design concepts
- Employ Design for Six Sigma and engineering tools to validate
designs: QFD, FMEA, DVP&R, GD&T
- Work with the PACCAR Technical Center and external
organizations to validate the designs through Finite Element
Analysis, Computation Fluid Dynamics, and durability tests
- Manage implementation of product changes by tracking project
schedule, budget, and functional requirements throughout the entire
life of the project
- Work closely with multiple PACCAR divisions
- Manage multiple priorities and goals simultaneously
- Travel up to 10%Qualifications & Skills
- B.S. in Mechanical, ElectricalEngineering or equivalentdegree
required; EIT certification preferred
- 1-2 years of iindustry-related background in the design and
specification of heavy-duty trucks is a plus
- 3D modeling software experience required (Creo Parametric
specific knowledge is a plus), with surfacing skills highly
valued
- Experience in product development and new product
implementation desired
- Working knowledge of sheet metal, composite panels, and
polymers/elastomers and their manufacturing processes is a
plus
- Competency in the use of personal computer software
- Understanding the use of Design for Six Sigma and Six Sigma
techniques
- Ability to perform in a lean, fast-paced, results-oriented
environment, while managing multiple priorities is a must
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the
ability to present status updates in front of engineering
management teams
- Willingness to learn and make use of new engineering processes
and techniques and be resourceful in solving complex technical
problems
- Ability to work in a team environment

Engineer is $69,800-$104,300annually. This position is also
