Assistant/Associate Professor for Education (Tenure Track) Department College of Education Reports To Laird Leavitt, Dean of College of Education Appointment August 2023 Close Date Open Until Filled Position SummaryThe ideal candidate is an enthusiastic teacher/scholar committed to preservice teacher education and helping candidates reach their educational goals. The applicant will teach graduate and undergraduate courses, advise undergraduate students, participate in curriculum development, and in the accreditation process for the College of Education (COE). The candidate will share the advising load with other resident faculty, supervise students in the field, and serve on interview, student performance evaluation, and research review teams.Essential Functions

  • Teach courses in graduate and undergraduate education, both online and on-campus
  • Advise undergraduate and graduate students
  • Work with the COE faculty and leadership to develop and revise curriculum as needed
  • Participate in accreditation activities with the COE faculty and leadership
  • Participate in the governance functions of the COE and University as assigned
  • Supervise teacher candidates during student teachingQualifications
    • Master's degree in Education and commitment to pursue doctoral studies (tuition assistance available)
    • K-12 school teaching experience
    • Strong commitment to a Christ-centered life, including active church attendance
    • Possess a winsome, encouraging, and culturally engaged faith
    • Apply Christian worldview in course design, instruction, and advising
    • Model best instructional practices for in-person, Hyflex, and remote learning settings
    • Maintain positive relationships with student, faculty, staff, and general constituency of the UniversityPreferred Qualifications
      • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education or closely related field
      • Experience in coaching new teachers
      • Experience mentoring, teaching, or working with diverse studentsCompensationBased on education and experience. -The compensation range for assistant professor with doctorate on 10.5-month workload starts at $66,516 to a median of $71,365.Application Requirements
