What You'll Do The Edmonds New Start Center (EDNSC) is a new 24/7 Emergency Housing facility operated by the YWCA of Seattle, King, and Snohomish County, located in Edmonds, WA. The center provides safe, supportive housing for up to 45 individuals who are transitioning from homelessness to permanent housing. Clients have access to a range of on-site services, including case management, life skills training, and connections to healthcare and employment resources, all designed to support their journey toward stability and self-sufficiency. The center emphasizes a compassionate, community-focused approach, fostering an environment where clients can rebuild their lives with dignity, independence, and hope. The Program Supervisor is responsible for providing high quality, culturally responsive, and consistent in-person operational and administrative support for the Edmonds New Start Center. This role provides onsite leadership in the absence of the Program Manager during assigned shifts, including staff oversight, workflow direction, and immediate corrective guidance and mediation, in alignment with YWCA policies. This position will also be on-call to fill in for staff shifts, and to ensure documentation accuracy and service quality. This position has a social justice component that requires critical thinking through the lens of racism and intersections with poverty. Knowing the core principles of antiracism and grounding those principles in everyday work requires job skills and core values. Expectations of your role: Managerial Support facility staff and operations in the absence of the Program Manager Establish and maintain staff schedules, and serve as on-call backup to cover staff absences Monitor and maintain inventory of office materials and supplies Manage grocery purchasing and deliveries, including planning menus, shopping for ingredients, preparing cold-prepared meals, and coordinating daily food-related activities to ensure smooth and timely service delivery Coordinate with the custodian team to identify, communicate, and resolve facility-related issues as they arise Incorporate the YWCA’s Social Justice Initiative by understanding how racism, sexism, classism, and other oppressions intersect and are embedded in institutions Safety and Security Coordinate with responders and support in emergency situations and crisis management in the absence of the Program Manager Maintain working knowledge of fire, safety and disaster plans related to emergency situations and conditions Ability to de-escalate conflicts or crises in the facility between clients and/or other individuals, and direct them to appropriate staff who can provide next steps Administrative Duties Record all pertinent information in logbooks, and email Life Coaches, the Program Manager, or others as needed Support documentation and reporting as required by funding sources Understand and follow all policies in the EDNSC Staff Handbook as well as other YWCA policies and procedures The duties listed above are representative of the essential functions of the position. Must have's to be successful: Bachelor’s degree in social services, human services, public administration, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum of 3–5 years of supervisory experience, including managing, coaching, and evaluating staff in social service or client-facing settings; experience supervising 10 or more staff preferred Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, high-demand environment, including evenings and weekends Understanding of homelessness, poverty, and trauma, and how these issues intersect with systemic oppression, race, gender, sexual orientation, and disability Strong computer proficiency , especially with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook in a networked Windows environment Ability to work evenings and weekends Experience responding to crises and high-stakes incidents, including conflict de-escalation, emergency management, and critical decision-making Demonstrated experience in operational management , including workflow oversight, inventory control, scheduling, and record-keeping Excellent oral and written communication skills, including documentation of incidents, case notes, reporting, and staff interactions Experience working with diverse populations, including BIPOC, LGBTQ, immigrants, refugees, and individuals experiencing homelessness Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and make operational decisions in the absence of the Program Manager Knowledge of services available in Snohomish County and greater Puget Sound for low-income or individuals experiencing homelessness desirable Hours, Rate, and Benefits Hourly Rate: $34.50 Hours: 40 Hours per week Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. In performing this position, the employee: Continuously exchanges information through listening and talking with clients, agency staff, volunteers, and individuals in the community Monitors client and staff safety by watching interactions, and scanning the Center for any unusual or suspicious activities Continuously repetitive use of hands and wrists handling, grasping and reaching in using computers, telephones, fax machines and other office equipment Continuously sitting, often for extended periods while performing desktop activities Walking around the facility and occasional standing in performing duties Frequently lifts and carries up to 5 lbs. of paperwork, files, and materials, occasionally up to 40 lbs. of food, hygiene supplies, clothing or other items Frequently bends and stoops while obtaining files in lower drawers Ability to frequently move about the facility using the stairs and in emergent situations able to move about the facility quickly following emergency protocols All positions at YWCA of Seattle \u007C King \u007C Snohomish are exposed to clients who have experienced or are experiencing trauma in various forms including but not limited to domestic violence, sexual violence, homelessness, unemployment, financial hardship, etc. As a result, staff are at risk of secondary trauma.
